Welcome to MODReading! This website contains a high-level overview of the component aspects of reading and literacy instruction. It is designed to help you isolate strengths and weaknesses on an individual level and point you to resources that may support development of weaker skills.
We are in the process of creating more content including more details on lesson plans, videos demonstrating effective techniques, and an informal assessment tool that will create an individualized learning plan. In the very long term, we will build an IEP goal bank that aligns with the assessment.

About Us
Beth Powell
In the summer of 1999, I took a summer job at a tutoring center. Little did I know, 20 years later, I would be speaking about literacy around the world! My favorite book is Gödel, Escher, Bach by Douglas Hofstader. I’m a math geek who is really passionate about high quality reading instruction.
I have spent years training people how to provide highly individualized reading interventions for struggling readers. From veteran teachers to recent college graduates, from adult literacy volunteers to concerned parents, I have met with hundreds of people interested in increasing their knowledge of reading instruction.
